The lab exercises for the course require the student to use their own laptop and have installed and running Oracle VirtualBox. They will use VirtualBox to run all the Solaris 11 lab images for practice. In order to start the course on time the student should have a fresh installation of the latest version of VirtualBox and the recommended Solaris 11 images downloaded onto their laptop. The students are welcome to alter, configure, and start learning on their own ahead of class but it’s recommended for them to have a clean Solaris image installs before class so everyone can start in the same place and the labs can proceed as smoothly as possible.

• You’ll need 2 Solaris 11 files that can be downloaded here

• Oracle Solaris 11.1 Repository Image (~ 6 GB!)
• Download part A and B and concatenate the files into one image. Instructions on the site or Google instructions for joining the files on your operating system like Windows, Mac, etc.
• Adobe reader or .pdf file reader application
